Objectives

To acquaint students with statistical techniques frequnetly used in biology to proces real data.

By completing this course the student will learn to perform the following:

1) How to calculate and apply measures of location and measures of dispersion -- grouped and ungrouped data cases.

2) How to apply discrete and continuous probability distributions to various business problems.

3) Perform Test of Hypothesis as well as calculate the confidence interval for a population parameter for a single sample and two sample cases. Understand the concept of p-values.

4) The Chi-Square test for Independence as well as Goodness of Fit.

  • Sessional: 20% (Presentation/Assignment 50%, Attendance 25%, Quiz 25%)
  • Mid-Term Exam: 30%
  • Final-Term Exam: 50%
