This course will provide an opportunity to the students to learn and practice specific skills necessary to promote effective group functioning both as group members and as group leaders based on an understanding of various dynamics, concepts, and theories regarding groups. Students understand the types and functions of groups in the profession of social work understand selected group work concepts and theories and be able to apply them in the assessment of effective group functioning & be able to develop a mutual aid process to facilitate members to help one another to achieve their individual and collective aspirations and goals.

To impart knowledge about the basic concepts of social work and society.

To educate the students about the basic concepts, methods and to acquaint them with various fields of social work.

To prepare the students to assume the responsibilities in the field areas of social work when and where needed.
