Introduction to Course
This is an introductory course in computer communications and networking to enable students to develop necessary data communication and networking skills.It familiarizes the students with the basics of data communications, OSI model and techniques, applications and control of modern data communications networks. This course will mainly focus to develop technical skills in troubleshooting and designing data networks.
Prerequisites: Digital Electronics

Course Outline: Introduction to computer networks, network topologies, OSI and TCP/IP reference models, the physical layer
Transmission media, data encoding, data communication interfaces, data link layer and its protocols.
LAN, Ethernet, wide area networks, routing, hub and switches
Inter-networking, IP protocol and addressing modes, transport Layer, services provided by transport layer, worldwide web
Course Objective: To enable students to develop necessary computer communication and networking skills
