To introduce students with concepts related to computer communication, analogue & digital transmission, network layers, network models (OSI, TCP/IP) and protocol standards. Emphasis is given on the understanding of modern network concepts.

Digital Data Communication Techniques. Data Link Control Protocols. Multiplexing. Circuit Switching and Packet Switching. Cellular Wireless Networks Technology & Protocols. Local Area Network Technology & Protocols. Ethernet Technology & Protocols. Wireless LANs: Wireless LAN Technology and Protocols.
