Course Title:        Computer Applications in Chemistry

Course Code:      CHEM–502

Credit Hours:      02

INTRODUCTION

This course comprises of modules for developing some basic skills in students to use the speed and accuracy of computers for different applications in chemistry. The course comprises of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation softwares. It includes chemical structure drawing and molecular modelling softwares as well. The chemistry databases available online and techniques to find chemical information from these databases are an integral part of this course.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course will enable the students

  • to use computer as a tool in writing, drawing chemical structures and data analysis to communicate scientific information.
  • to use computers in chemical data acquisition and processing.
  • to use computers in the modeling and simulation of chemical phenomena.
  • to retrieve chemical information using library/internet resources.
