DESCRIPTION / OBJECTIVES

This course primary focus is inclusive development through active citizenship locally and globally. The overall objective of this course are to: Teach students the importance and role of active citizenship is promoting a productive, harmonious and developed society/world, Educate students about the importance of concepts, skills and philosophy of community linkages in developing a sustainable society, Inculcate the importance of community involvement for ensuring an improved, tolerant and generative society and provide an opportunity to the students to develop their relationship.  

INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • To understand the overall organization of the society.
  • To recognize and exercise their rights, responsibilities and the significance of active citizenship in positive societal development
  • To identify and critically evaluate social issues and implement practicable community based solutions
  • To understand the concept of human rights and its significance and appreciate diverse viewpoints and inter-cultural harmony

  • Social structure and social hirerachy

Multicultural Society and Intercultural dialogue

  • Inter-cultural dialogue (differences, harmony) and its importance
  • Significance of diversity and its impact
  • Role of civil society in promoting inter cultural harmony

Active Citizen: Locally Active, Globally Connected

  • Importance of active citizenship at national and global level
  • Understanding community
  • Identification of resources ( human, natural and others)
  • Utilization of resources for development (community participation)
  • Strategic Planning for development

Human Rights, Constitutionalism and citizens’ responsibilities

Social Issues in Pakistan

Social Action Project

  • Introduction and planning of social action project

  • Ethical considerations related to project
  • Assessment of existing resources (material and non-material)

RESEARCH PROJECT / PRACTICAL / LABS / ASSIGNMENTS

 There is a practical based course. During this course, students will be required to read all the material, recommended literature and books. They will be provided all necessary details of the assignments by the instructor, which they will submit for assessment. And they will do practical in community and will give the detail project plan to students and after the completion of project the report will be write on that practical project and will submit to instructor.
